The leadership of Restoration
operates with Elders, Cell Servants, Ministry Coordinators,
and the leadership of each member within their ministry team.
We believe the following qualifications are needed for leadership
as revealed by God for Restoration to continue the vision set before us:
-
Committed to a cell group and
the Reunion Service
-
Displays the leadership
qualities of Exodus 18 and 1 Timothy 3: "Able" "Fear God" "Of truth" and
"Hate dishonest gain"
-
Has gone through or is
currently going through the church's equipping track and understands their
main ministry gift (heart motivation)
-
Recognize (along with the
leadership of Restoration) God's calling on their life and God's anointing
in their area of leadership
-
Committed to the biblical
principles of tithes and offerings
-
Submitted to the God ordained
leadership and vision of Restoration
-
Willing to attend a monthly
(or as needed) team meeting with the other leaders
The church is led based on the leadership of Christ and the
people He calls to lead. He is our head and we are all simply servants of Him.
Nowhere in the New Testament do we see the church being led by a single man, but
on the leadership of elders.
Elders are men or couple teams called of God to oversee
and serve His church.
They exhibit the characteristics laid out in 1 Timothy 3:2-7, Titus 1:6-9, and 1
Peter 5:2-3. They have earned the right to be called elders because of their
service and love for the people of God and for no other reason.
Elders are selected based on the recognition of the calling and gifting in their
lives. Those who are elders are such because of what they do, not
because of what we say or what title they have. They will have a recognizable
measure of one of the five ministry gifts listed in Ephesians 4:11, " And He
gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some,
pastors and teachers".
The goal of Restoration is to have teams of elders representing these five
main ministry gifts, working in the unity of the Spirit to oversee the operations of
the church. Elders are ultimately responsible to God to ensure Restoration
is being Spirit-led in all things. They are ordained (recognized) and have
legal authority to perform weddings and will lead funeral services as needed.
Elder teams will be evaluated at least annually to ensure that the higher
standard of their calling is being fulfilled.
Though elders are called to oversee the church, it is not
practical for only a few to minister effectively to so many. In Exodus 18,
Jethro (Moses' father in law) tells him to select men (generic, not male) to be
leaders of thousands, of hundreds, of fifties, and of tens.
To delegate ministry as God ordained, the elders select cell
servants to oversee the cell groups. The cell servants are the first line
of pastoral care for the people due to the relationships they will build.
A Cell Servant can be a single person or a couple.
We believe that all have the potential to be a cell servant since it is simply
one who loves and serves people.
The are responsible for:
-
Modeling true community
-
Leading the group to reach out
to the lost
-
Serving and encouraging the
members to meet the needs of each other
-
Ensuring the cell is
functioning in a biblical method so that others will follow
-
Discipling future leaders
The cell servant has the same role
as the deacon in the Bible. They already have the characteristics as laid
out in 1 Timothy 3:8-13 and Exodus 18:21, we simply recognize them for that.
Those who desire to become a cell
servant will go through an intern process with another cell servant. This
serves as a testing process to confirm their calling and heart. As God
directs, they will be ordained (recognized) as a cell servant leader for
Restoration.
Each ministry within Restoration
will have a Ministry Coordinator. The coordinator will have
a heart for that ministry, and be responsible for ensuring that the team is
operating with a spirit of excellence and for coordinating all efforts in that
ministry to the Glory of God.
We will help guide all members
into discovering their ministry gift as laid out in Ephesians 4:11, and will
help them to join a team that best represents their gift and calling for
ministry.
All ministries will be spirit-led
to start and to continue. We are not interested in creating new things to
do or trying to keep old things alive, but only to join where God is working.
In other words, we are only interested in doing what our Father is doing!
All leadership will be regularly evaluated to ensure that our focus is on God's
calling for our life.
